Has anyone thought the true reasion why their is no such thing as Unconditional love is not the face if you love something and get something back ie love a sunset you get the feel good factor, Is that Man is way too selfish to give without expecting something back. Everything in life is done for what we can gain. A big company gives to charity they save on taxes and it may get a big contract. A celebrity may give time to charity events may even donate their fee to the charity, do they do that out the goodness of their hearts? So their maybe no such thing as unconditional love or 99% of the time is not that we may love something so we get the feel good factor, but because man is unable to do something for nothing

Chandria,
The problem with you is that when you think of getting something in return,you think of material benefits.Every human action is motivated by a desire for more satisfaction,or happiness.One can't love cutting off his emotions.One can't love cutting off his desire for more happiness or satisfaction.I don't think that anyone who knows what love is would say that he gets nothing in return.Only a brute can say that.

Unconditional love means To love without expecting or demanding anything in return. Anything that is unconditional means no conditions no demands you can't ask for anything in return. If you get something from this love or anything unconditional then its a bonus. And before you say i am wrong look the word up in the Dictionary

Honestly speaking it hurts people when you say there is no such thing as unconditional love. Its not the possibility of unconditional love being discussed here, but merely a challenge to the currently accepted beliefs of "unconditional love".

According to me, a man puts conditions and demands in pretty much everything he does or every interaction he takes part in, then how come he loves someone unconditionally.

It will be interesting to see if in 5 or 10 years time you still believe that their is no such thing as unconditional love. How you feel when you hold your child in your arms for the first time.

Actually that love you're talking about is just lots of overwhelming love that's it. You do feel you love your kid unconditionally when he is born. But my mom says it would be interesting to see if in 15 to 20 years when your kid is 18 you still love your him unconditionally.

You say that I would get no pleasure from my child? Are you intending to mean that I get nothing in return from loving my child? Is that what you mean? However,that is not the case.We get something in return for our love,which in this case is pleasure.Love is conditional.

@Chandria

And what for you will love a sunset, or a scent? Because you will like it, the peace it provides because of which you love it, is the actual cost of your love towards it.

Basically you cannot love anything if it is not worthy to be loved. If you love someone, something, it means that that thing that person is worthy of your love, your affection, your care.

There is nothing like Unconditional Love.

This has got to be the biggest load of rubbish i have read. Who ever wrote this hasn't done any kind of research on the subject, and i doubt even know what the words Unconditional Love even mean. The person who wrote this has tried to rationalise a emotion. Emotions can't be put into any form of compartments. They can't be broken down. The argument given dosen't even make any sence, and what is this " To value a book or movie on the scale of awards or popularity eluding the fact that it’s of no intellectual or philosophical value; does this mean that only books that teach are the only book that can be enjoyed. The author of this peice seems to be the robot. Emotion and feelings don't always have a single base. I can feel happy without looking deeply as to why. Emotions can't be taken to peices, because more then one reason may exist as to why you feel the way you do, and when you try to unravel the reasons the feeling has gone because it needs the combination of all the elements.
People have many interpritations on "love" you can love a sunset or a scent, but often can't explain why. For me it helps to relax and feel at peace within myself. and the phrase "Unconditional Love" means to love without getting anything in return. Or should we be saying " if you want my love it will cost you" What price of my love. A mountain of diamonds a crystle palace. I am sure we can price ourselves out of love. Unconditional Love is to love someone or even something without asking anything in return. Not expecting anything in return. Even to be loved in return
