Rights and wrongs
We have already discussed Epicurus and Objectivistic point of view on Pain.
It is non-confrontational fact that pleasure and pain signifies an informing system inherent to a living organism helping it to set virtuously, what is right and what is wrong.
Can pain be a basis of rights? If pain is a basis of rights, then to cut a finger of a person or kill him during his unconscious state cannot be wrong. Moreover, it would be wrong to vaccinate children or put a person through any medical function that causes pain, irrespective of his approval for it.
Rights are ethical principles–principles that identify and empower man’s freedom of action in the social order. The authentic foundation of rights is man’s possession of a rational ability.
The capability to reason includes the option to focus consciously one’s intellect and to incorporate perceptual facts into conceptual knowledge.
The notion of human rights protects man’s liberty of action in the social order. It allows him to use to his own rational verdict to lead his life and well-being.
Rights are the power, which provides a man, to objectify is options regarding any issue. Just like right to vote, every right provides a man, to say Yes or No.
The set of rights protects the freedom of all by prohibiting the instigation of any sort of physical or mental force by one man or group of men against another person.
Children have rights because they are the developing form of adult with an increasing intellectual faculty to reason out and explain/express.
To express is a quality, which defines the rationale basis, hence helps in determining the rights and wrongs. The freedom of expression is a fundamental right, which helps in furtherance of liberty. As freedom of expression is one’s power, to safeguard and further his living and well-being, the press, the media and individual expressive liberty must be free of any corporeal force at any level.
Unless a person in coma is not fully brain-dead, he has proper set of rights, because of the likelihood of their gaining of the full-functional rational-faculty, concept of rights is futile when applied to living beings inept of reason.
Can animal rights have any moral ground?
A human must not cause harm to animals because they can feel pain and compassion is a virtuous concept, but it cannot be a basis of any moral or constitutional right. We cannot stop medical researchers from experimenting on animals on regards of any moral or legitimate right. We cannot and should not say that it will be morally illegal to experiment on an animal even though it may result in a cure of a deadly disease of human kind.
The attitude of human towards animals and other beings should be compassionate, but one must avoid creating debates over vegetarian or non-vegetarian habits of eating, or medical researches over animals.
Same thing I must explain regarding emotional pain.
Emotional pain cannot be the reason of any right. If I am wrong, I cannot avoid disgrace just because it will cause me shame. If I am wrong, then pain is unavoidable. The only way to avoid pain is to avoid wrong, and act right, right on the line of fundamental principles, which every individual must have.
Emotions can provide motives, which must be, properly reasoned over the basis of fundamental rights.
Human actions must not be placed over emotions.
Otherwise, prejudices and biased attitudes will mar his actions, and he will not get the right perceptive of right and wrong. That will restrict him from becoming the full individual every man must try to be.
I do not think of others, I try to achieve unbiased attitude. I am not very clear about every aspect of life. i have allot to see and analyze. I am not a full individual, but I deserve to be. Because I have a uncompromising will to live and act unbiased, no hypocritical. I can be wrong, if I will be wrong, my sense of objective righteousness will make me suffer and I will check my premises towards unbiased existence as a full individual. I trust in My Dharma, and My Karma are based on it, the summation is in hands of nature the results will cause me either enjoy or suffer (pleasure/pain) and I will check my premises regarding them.
The singular bias I will afford is the uncompromising attitude towards fundamental rights.
Every person is free to desire, to dream to express. If someone sees me, and draws me nude erotic, it is his right, he cannot attack me though for his carnal pleasure.
It will be against my fundamental right and I will oppose it, express against it.
I cannot oppose a writer, a painter, or any presenter if he expresses against me or something/someone belonging to me, it is his right. If he is correct, I will gracefully accept my wrong, but if I am right, I will express that I am right.
I love animals, I have compassion for them, I will right for their safety, for their well-being, but I know that for medical experiments, to use animals is no wrong. I cannot demand any animal rights for any behalf. I can surely express my views regarding compassion towards animal, but to ask for animal rights is just unreasonable.
I can express the goodness of vegetarian diets but I cannot start criticizing non-vegetarian diets.
I cannot object on individual choices regarding music and literature nor can I let others to offend my choice. However, I have proper right to express the correct idea of how arts and literature must inspire and help society towards reaching perfection.
I do not like the idea of current Indian TV and cinema standards. Therefore, I can project my aspirations, but I cannot force it. Nor I desire any position to force anything. Nevertheless, I have full right to express!
My Atlantis would be some place on earth or it maybe too, but the premises will be whole universe.
When I say I am a slave, and I have a will to be to free, I mean to say that I am not unbiased, not unprejudiced, I know I am hypocritical at some or many points in my life. But that is not my wrong, I was indoctrinated by the society, by friends circles, by my surroundings, my school books, my courses.
Yet the will to reshape and rebuild myself is my aim my choice.
My Atlantis is my mind, my correct unbiased non-hypocritical perception. I know I have not achieved it. The day I will be clear about my rational premises I will be free I will be full individual.
My Atlantis will be my ataraxia, which is a state of mind that is clear, focused, rational, and without inner conflict; a mind that understands the world and is in harmony with itself. An individual stridently focused and enjoying an vigorous game of cricket or kushti or a match of WWF or a mountain climber attempting a complex incline could be in a condition of ataraxia and aponia just as effortlessly as someone at abode gently listening a piece of music or watching a TV show.
My pleasure and my pain both will ascend me towards happiness alone and nothing else, because my moral principles based on cognitive approach and reasons. My Atlantis means my existence, my mind and my body. My mind body and space with complete harmony, without any inner conflict.

[...] “Life is about encountering problems. Living is about solving problems.” – R.E. Feist “The unexamined life is not worth living.” (Socrates) The quote sounds so correct. How can be a life which is not examined on holistic approach and tested by virtue of reason be worthy? Why should we examine our lives? Why should we not just plainly go with the flow, live life and not question and think? “Ignorance is bliss” they say. How does examination of the self lead to actualization, and thereby to existence? “Know thyself”, that is what the virtue is, know yourself and by yourself. Objectivism or Existentialism gains its root from the knowledge of one’s own self. With the actualization of one’s own existence, the virtue of independence takes its roots. Virtue of independence confirms that an individual must think and act by virtue of his own efforts and not by following someone else. Reasons cannot be indoctrinated, they are to be acquired, although the guide/teacher may help, but indoctrination is crap. (Montessori schooling system is right), the policy of remaining committed for one’s own application of mental/cognitive faculty (mind) to learn, interpret and accept reason is virtue of independence. Socrates held that one learns how to live reasonably through an examination of his own life. This was principally achieved by questioning others about their lives, to find out what they discern or do not know, and by facing same questions by others, that is cross-examining each other. This type of cross-questioning to attain knowledge is popularly known as the Socratic Method or Method of Elenchus or Socratic Debate. At its most basic, this method involves a teacher posing a series of questions to a student. The teacher never answers the questions or indoctrinates but allows the student to come to the answers independently by examining and rationalizing. The Socratic Method is used in a wide range of disciplines in present era and it often touted as exceptional methods of instruction. Socrates felt that everyone could and should avail themselves of this type of questioning… He wanted others to emulate him by asking questions of others, by leading examined lives independently, gaining the understanding of reason and acquiring the virtue of reasonability. The definitive goal of Socrates was to discern the reasonable approach of living. To accomplish this objective, he devoted a lot of time in framing moral questions and issues to others. His questions mostly revolved just about defining moral requisites that were important to lead a good life that is objectifying morality on the basis of reasoning. Socrates realized that the base of reality could be found in specific and appropriate definitions. A specific definition of the requisites is an essential beginning step in any problem solving practice or debate. Socrates’ used to test these definitions by questioning and creating further new questions, trying to assess their possible implications and ramifications. Every aspect of the definition would be scrutinized until its barest skeleton remained its most precise definition. This pattern of questioning is termed as the “elenchus” or the Socratic Method. The elenchus is not just a method of philosophical scrutiny. It is also a structure by which the temperament of the individual being questioned can be discovered. The elenchus needs much from the person being cross-examined. Such a person must be honest enough to say what they really think about things. They must be humble enough to admit to their ignorance in certain matters. They must also possess sufficient courage to persevere with the questions even when they are getting angry or uncomfortable. The elenchus possess many different levels. As a matter of fact, Socratic Method of education is just similar to the proper Montessori schooling system. In Montessori schooling system, the teacher helps the primary student to know their own selves and potential via providing various natural exercises and stresses over the learning environment of the student and the significance of physical activities in attaining practical skills for which teacher poses myriads of examining situations in front of student. Socratic Method is learning by questioning and analyzing one’s own self hence realizing the potential and ability to attain and develop skills and knowledge. On Objectivistic approach, Montessori schooling and Socratic Method of learning and education is the most appropriate and reasonable way as it completely avoids dogmatic approach, preaching and indoctrination and helps the Individual to attain the virtue of Independence. The problems with this is, only very few are really searching for truth, the intolerance of the politically correct inhibits the discussion, and most students are only interested in finding a short list of things to memorize for the next test and to attain the higher grades and better marks. They ignore the Virtue of Independence and accept dependence as a way of living. related Posts1. Pink Floyd, philosophy and peer pressure 2. Any conflict that is presented to me is always symbolic of an inner conflict. Do I chose to fight others and myself, or do I choose to love others and in turn love myself? I choose harmony!
