All in all it’s just another brick in the wall.
All in all you’re just another brick in the wall.
Some songs never die.
Rock music always remained a platform for psychedelic experiences. Art is technology of soul. If art stresses on the Individual existence, it helps in developing a free environment for flourishing positive evolution of mankind. Art always remained an important aspect of society of Individual with a positive creative consciousness.
Due to its deep rooted existentialism, and photographic ability to express the basic human problem and a know-how procedure for solution, the music of Rock Band of Pink Floyd will always remain one of the most influential and decipherable rock bands of all time. Pink Floyd didn’t achieve it by leaving their audiences contentedly numb, but by disquieting, unsettling, inquiring, and criticizing. They provokes the musings and deep intellectual conversations in the conscious of the audience, each and every individual, making him realize the points to stress upon and think and change for positive development. That is what the basic principle of good art and artist must be.
If someone likes Pink Floyd, and enjoys listening their songs then he actually is groping in the word of philosophy ethics and morals. He is improving intellectually and looking for his inner core to gather strength and improve as a human.
And this song, “Another Brick in the Wall” is shear reality to be faced and solved out anyhow.
The socialistic education system in India is as much botched up as a dirt box can be.
We don’t let the children to choose for the best they can achieve by their natural inclinations and abilities. We make them a sheep in the herd, following the group blindly and never letting them to think for their own interests and development as per their own!
We control their mind and tries to indoctrinate them rather than letting them be self-sufficient and strong enough to discover their own self reasonably. The classrooms we provide the children and the environment of extreme stress on always go on to compete with others irrespective of any chance to try to search out one’s own self, ultimately makes them a hotchpotch of weak ideas and further weak moralistic character.
The recent movie of Amir Khan “Tare Zamin Par” also stresses on similar platform of art.
We must realize that human are not equal. We must provide full guiding and helping environment for the child as individual, letting him decide for his own conduct, attitude, rationale, and experience freely.
We must inculcate in them, the virtue of independence rather than trying to restrict them to the closet of socialistic attitudes.
Society can not be a wall. Society must be civilized way to promote and provide Individual freedom and safe environment for each individual’s development freely irrespective of any obligations. Yet, in India the education system is quite dogmatic plus subjective.
The course we provide for students is not at-all standard nor is our system of education.
Indian education ministry stresses more on providing literacy rather than providing education.
To apply Montessori education system for children is quite necessary. Children must be viewed as competent beings capable of self-directed learning. They learn in a distinctly different way from adults, they are much more enthusiastic about their own choices and inquiring too, and yes they are not similar. The ongoing curriculum for the student must be based on a vital substance of inspection of the child interacting with her or his environment. . Provision of subsequent exercises for skill development and information accumulation should be based on the teacher’s observation that the child has mastered the current exercise/s, and the exercises must be based upon the child’s interest base. There must be proper description of sensitive period of the child development during which a child’s mind is specially open and willing for learning specific skills or knowledge including language development, sensory experimentations and refinement and different levels of social interactions. It must be understood that children are masters of their environment, which has been specifically prepared for them to be academic, comfortable, and allow a maximum amount of independence. Children basically learn through discovery, every new experience is important for them and to explore and improve it, so didactic materials which are self-correcting should be used as much as possible.
The song specifically shows the idea and importance of freedom and Individuality. We cannot treat everyone on same scale, and everyone can develop to excellence on their own scale of skills. We must provide a safe free environment for child’s development by their own. The pressure of conventional courses and streams of limited socialistic professions must be loosened. Along with, economic sexual and religious freedom, we need a freedom of education to develop improve and augment it with rational cognitive approach. In India, we almost force the individual to take his course according to the parameters the society provides. Individual is not free to create his own skies. They are forced to follow. First they will follow the trend of schooling and course as per decided by the education ministry and boards, irrespective of NO solid study and research over How the education and course should be set to let the individual child achieve his best. Then the society provides the trends of course streams. Parents and the society force the child to opt for streams like economics, biology, mathematics, chemistry, history, philosophy, arts etc. The self chosen natural inclination of the student is given second preference always. That is not the right way. Almost every student tries to be an engineer no matters he has no inclination and will to do so. The peer pressure acts destructing the individuality and that is wrong.

January 10th, 2008 at 5:46 pmAnother Brick in the Wall - Lots has been said and lot more will be. Ill just point you in one more direction. Where is it said that the bricks of the Wall are of equal size?? We assume naturally in our minds that whats being referred to is a even brick wall.
Im praying you are a philosophy student/follower to use the powerful(& not easily decipherable)language you are. Say the same words simpler if you can and great reactions to your otherwise excellently written/maintained blog. Keep it up.
PS: I also steal a widget.Hehehe

January 11th, 2008 at 11:11 amListen to their album ‘Animals’ (1977) or ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ (1973) if you really want to dig into some of their philosophy.
‘The Wall’ was more a of a personal vendetta for Roger Waters and turned out to be more of a rock pop album, though it has it’s moments too.
But Meddle, DSOTM, WYWH and Animals are much more ‘Floydian’. Go for them.

I just made a suggestion that since you like Pink Floyd’s philosophy, go for the other albums too if you haven’t already. What has that got to do with anything ? :O Stop being a snob. Good Day.

December 2nd, 2008 at 11:04 pmThis is a great post. I am still young (18)but I have been dealing with the ideas of conforming since I was old enought to understand the idea (elementary school.) I agree with your post and think this is very well written. I feel that if you listened to much more of their songs and added some of the other ideas you could do a very nice piece of writting on Pink Floyd philosophy(thinkers philosophy) and society.
