I believe that it was Churchill who said that Democracy is the worst form of government ...except for the rest.

I agree.

I think in democracy u have to accept govt. with its all flaws. Also, the idea of changing existing govt. with another one will not make any difference.
Things which you said - about govt. putting restrictions on your personal freedom - I think it happens NOT everyday but ONLY when govt. declares Emergency in country ( which hasn't happened since Indira Gandhi's regime as per my understanding)
(Now dont say - asking u to change ur traffic routes in case some president or prime minister arrived in CITY - is restricting ur freedom. I do agree it creates lot of inconvenience to everyone but thats how indians are suppose to distinguish between VIP and common man )
My point is - There are always loop holes in system and u have to figure out on your own - how to use them legitimately for your own benefit and now..............to expect everyone to do that - first ppl need to be aware of those loopholes.
I like your posts but I wish you could have emphasised more on solution part of this issue rather than discussing the issue in length ( which I believe everyone is already aware of)
e.g. How to curb corruption rate in govt. officials?-- Effective Use of RTI ( Right to Information) act.I agree its not full-proof solution to completely stop corruption but this surely put pressures on govt. officials to remain accountable and transparent in their line of work if ppl using RTI to keep a tab on them. Another could be PIL which is filed in SC or HC by most awakened individual ( yeah thats wht I call him/her becuase of their sensitivity to issues impacting public's life).

Freedom? Independence? I am afraid these words will never stop to haunt us. I believe it would have been better if the English rule was for 100 more years. At least then they would've thrashed all hopes of a partition. The world would've been a better place.

Cheers!!

PS: You visited my blog after a long time. Have you changed or you were not yourself when you came there? :-s
I wonder. Well whatever it was. It was for the good.

We never really got the freedom. Then we were ruled by the British, now by power hungry politicians.
